MARY GOLDEN BREED

Born Retsil, WA 12/05/1929

Died Shoreline, WA 2/10/2014   

MARY GOLDEN BREED; our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, pie maker, animal shape pancake maker, navigational guide, mystery novel reader and dead-eye rabbit hunter, went to be with her heavenly Father on February 10th at the age of 85 on her 64th wedding anniversary.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Arthur L. Breed, their son Edward Breed, her brothers Max, and John, and two granddaughters.

Mary’s influence spanned multiple generations to include nine children and spouses, 21 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a large extended family. She was entirely devoted to her family which included everyone related by blood, marriage, adoption, and friendship.

Mary Golden Hill was born to Mathias and Sarah Hill of Retsil, WA, and was the youngest of three children.  She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1948 and attended the University of Washington to study Home Economics.  Mary married Arthur L. Breed on 2/10/1951. They eventually moved to Seattle where they grew their family and raised their children.  Mary’s career’s included Todd’s Shipyard, Sears, and Eddie Bauer as well as homemaker.  Upon retirement, she and Art moved to the Methow Valley and worked on the Breed farm. She continued living in the Methow after Art’s death until she moved to Shoreline last year to stay with family.  Mary’s home churches include Winthrop United Methodist Church and Shoreline United Methodist Church.  

Funeral services held at 3pm 2/21/2015 at Washington Memorial Park in SeaTac, WA.

Mary’s dedication to her family and friends cannot be expressed in mere words, but her impact will be felt forever.
